Heart failure nurses work daily with those afflicted to create a better quality of life and quantity of life knowing that the disease is chronic, progressive, and fatal. Within the Clinician Domain of Heart Failure we ask, “How do we care for the clinical caregivers?”
One way to show our appreciation is to recognize heart failure nurses for the compassion they bring to our patients along with their technical competencies and skills. We can support our heart failure nurses by affirming their important role on the lives of those with heart failure.
We need your help. The newly formed Heart Failure Nurse Recognition Committee plans to announce the first recipient of this award on June 25 in Orlando. Please contact me by e-mail to nominate a nurse you feel is particularly deserving.
We plan to recognize a new heart failure nurse each month – and include the announcement on the Colloquium website and synchronize an annual award with the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses meeting. As a new committee, we have room for a few more Colloquium hospital members to help chose the recipients. If you would like someone from you hospital to sit on the selection committee, please let me know.
